EMT Paintball Sentry Turret

Posted by admin under Gadgets

When paintball heads goes crazy and try to come up with new cool ideas, this is the result. The EMT Paintball sentry turret system. It can hold up to 400 rounds (upgradable to 1000+), consists of colour CCD camera, remote control and 7″ LCD monitor to sport some of its features. The upgrade features are just as interesting with LED flood lights for improved night vision and virtual 50″ LCD glasses which project the image seen from the on board turrent camera to give you a cool “Turret cam” right before your eyes.

Perhaps another application is for personal home security to fend off those unwanted guests. At a price tag of $1399 USD (without the upgrades) you have to be a real paintball enthusiast to sink that kind of funds.  A very interesting addition to paintball warfare I must say!

Upon  further research, it seems that some people has even taken it a step further and installed laser guided targeting system on the paintball sentry gun.

eBay to accept Paypal payments only

Posted by admin under News

As of 17th April, eBay will be enforcing Paypal payments (and cash on delivery) as the only forms of payment for all listings. Paypal, which is subsequently owned by eBay charges a fee to its sellers in accepting Paypal payments from buyers. This is on top of the eBay listing as well as final auction fee eBay charges.

ACCC has stepped in to investigate the changes which has angered many professional sellers.

Ebay has defended its change as an “improvement to safety”. Payment protection insurance for unreceived goods that can be claimed from eBay has also increased from $3000 to $20,000.

Rubber-band Gatling Gun

Posted by admin under Gadgets

Disintegrator rubber band gatling gun

Forget about handheld rubber band guns, the Disintegrator rubber band gatling gun will blow that to shreds.  The Disintegrator has been created by a company called Dunstable in England and this rubber band powered gatling gun is capable of firing 40 shots per second via its 24 barrels. The barrels spin via motors mounted behind the barrels. Only downside is the tedious task of loading of the rubber band bullets.

Here’s a little segment from the Gadget Show with a live test of the gun shooting down several targets…

Japan’s Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has confirmed that they have come up with the fastest Satellite Internet in the world boasting 155Mbps downstream to homes and 1.2Gbps to businesses and corporate users. While here in Australia we are getting excited over our painfully slow 20Mbps while paying in the proximate of $80+ per month. It seems the term “broadband” gets thrown around too loosely. Australia’s level of “broadband Internet” is going at crippling speeds when compared to the rest of the developed nations. The JUS$342mil JAXA project is expected to go live in July.

Nissan Skyline GTR R35

Posted by admin under Cars

The much anticipated Nissan skyline GTR R35 was released late 2007 in Japan. Keeping much of its protoype looks in the 2001 Tokyo motor show (Nissan claimed production of the Skyline R35 will be based on 90% of the prototype model), it has relit the fire for all Skyline fans. Personally, I felt the Skyline R35 was a step back from its predecessors, but the Skyline GTR R35 is definately a winner in my books. Traditionally, the Skylines have been somewhat overly focused on pure performance with very little creature comforts in for the cabin crew (but hey, why else are you driving a Skyline GTR if you’re not in it for the performance). However, the new Skyline R35 has achieved the best of both worlds. The new 3.8L DOHC VR38DETT engine pumping out a nice 353kW/473hp with pulling power of 588 Nm @ 3200-5200 rpm is set to impress the power hungry driver, but they have also included a few extra luxuries with leather as standard as well as premium Bose speakers as an optional extra. A more powerful V. Spec model is said to be in the works with 410 kW / 550 hp of power (an increase of 57 kW / 77 hp).  The Skyline R35 boasts a 0-100km/h times of approx 3.5secs, you’re sure to get from point A to B very, very quickly.

China lifts Wiki Ban

Posted by admin under News

China has decided to lift its ban once more after a year long ban on its local citizens from accessing the english only version of the popular website wikipedia. However, “sensitive” issues such as Tiananmen square and Tibet will still be inaccessible. A regulated Internet has always been a norm in China and this is not the first incident of a ban on the Wikipedia site. Bans on the Wikipedia website spans all the way back in 2004 and had a series of other bans and lifting of its banning status since then.
